ELLSWORTH – The Beldenville Car Show & Swap Meet makes its return to the Pierce County Fairgrounds this Sunday, July 25 for the first time since 2019. Like many large public events, the Beldenville Car Show did not occur in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year marks the 43rd annual car show and swap meet, with a few of its original members from the inaugural year 1977 still making arrangements for the show’s return. The Beldenville Old Car Club currently has 30 members.
John Losgaard, longtime member of the Beldenville Old Car Club, said it feels great to bring the show back after a year’s absence.
“We’re starting things back up over a year when we never had a show, you know, so who knows what's going to happen, but anyway, we're hoping that the weather is perfect,” Losgaard said. “It’ll be a large show with a lot of cars and trucks all the way to the year 2001. Okay, and that's a lot. That there's 16 judge classes of cars. And the rest of the standard just show and shine. And of course, we have a pretty large crowd most of the time, with 600 cars and trucks showing up.”
Lenny McDaniel, another longtime member of the Beldenville Old Car Club, shared his enthusiasm for the show’s return as well.
“It’ll be great to meet up with old friends, renew some friendships and welcome people coming over to have a good time,” said McDaniel.
McDaniel will be sporting a 1957 Chevrolet Delray model at the show this year.
This year, trophies in 16 classes will be presented at 3 p.m. There will also be a pancake breakfast, as well as pork sandwiches served for lunch by the Rush River – Eau Galle Sportsman’s Club.
DJ Rock-man will spin tunes from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. The first 500 cars on arrival will receive their own dash plaques. Gates at the Pierce County Fairgrounds open at 8 a.m. with an admission of $5. Kids 12 and younger can enter for free.
