Girls hockey team wins twice

The Park girls hockey team had back-to-back 3-0 wins last week to move to 5-4 on the season.

Park defeated Irondale / St. Anthony at the National Sports Center Saturday.

Sam Miller and Taylar Nadler pushed in first-period goals to jump start the Wolfpack to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Molly Villas added a second- period score to make it a 3-0 game.

Villas added an assist on Nadler’s goal in the second period.

Goalie Tori Stepka recorded a second straight shutout in the net, stopping 11 Irondale shots.

Villas scored twice to help power Park over Hudson in girls’ hockey at Hudson Sports & Civic Center Thursday.

Villas scored on a power play in the first period off an assist by Maggie Jensen. The two combined again in the third period to give Park a 2-0 lead. Maddie Brinkman added a third goal to complete the win.

Stepka was perfect in the net for the Wolfpack, defending all 25 shots she faced.

Boys basketball team splits week

Park fell to Lakeville North 56-43 at Hopkins Saturday afternoon.

Evan Bearth scored 21 points and Jamari Walker 20 to lead Park to a clutch 61-59 win at Hastings Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Park led 32-28 at the half in what was a tight game throughout.

Josh Hatano scored nine points for the Wolfpack and David Ola-Kazim had six.

Boys hockey team drops road pair Park’s boys’ hockey team had a winless week, losing road games at Woodbury Saturday following a loss at Stillwater Tuesday.

Host Woodbury jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and skated past Park at Health East Sports Center Saturday, winning 5-3.

Woodbury led 3-0 and then 4-1 after the first period. The Royals led 5-2 after two.

Michael Schult, Brady Strand and Colton Porter scored for the Wolfpack. Jackson Rudh had two assists. Nathan Donlon, Lucas Chilton, Samuel Janksi and Vincent Lucio added one assist each.

Alex Harden in goal stopped 26 of 31 shots.

Park slipped to 0-2 in the Suburban East Conference and 2-3 overall.

Host Stillwater skated past ark 7-2 Thursday at St. Croix Rec Center Thursday.

After a scoreless first period Stillwater took a 3-0 lead in the second period. The Ponies added four goals in the final period to two for the Wolfpack.

Mac Wohnoutka and Colton Porter scored for Park, with Porter and Samuel Janski earning assists.

Park will host East Ridge (0-1, 2-2-1) Thursday at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting at 7:45 p.m.

Gymnastics team wins at Woodbury Leah Smith won the bars and the all-around to lead the Park High gymnasts to a team win at Woodbury Thursday.

Smith scored a 33.750 to win the all-around competition and had a meet best of 8.450 on the bars.

Park won the dual meet 131.375 to 123.325. Park scores were: 34.750 on the vault, 30.875 on bars, 32.000 on beam and 33.750 on floor.

Rainna Jameson and Emily Dahlstrom of the Wolfpack also had individual wins Thursday. Jameson scored a 9.025 to win the vault. Dahlstrom had a 9.125 to finish first on the floor.

Park hosts White Bear Lake Thursday, starting at 6 p.m.


Park’s Zach Carr at 106 pounds and Zach Silvis at 120 pounds both went 4-0 to highlight a Wolfpack invitational wrestling meet Saturday.

In dual meets, Park edged St. Thomas Academy 3130; but fell to: River Falls 57-24, to Cambridge-Isanti 44-33 and to Anoka, 52-24. Anoka won the five team meet, followed by: River Falls, Cambridge-Isanti, Park and St. Thomas Academy.

Park hosts Woodbury and Irondale Thursday in a three-team match starting at 5 p.m.
