The Osseo-Fairchild School District’s new technical educa- tion center is going to be one of the beneficiaries of a grant re ceived by the Chippewa Valley Technical College to facilitate career pathways in metal fabrication for undeserved populations throughout rural northwestern Wisconsin. Other school districts on the receiving end will be Bloomer and St. Croix Central. CVTC will receive up to $10 million to address the need for metal fabrication workers. A similar CVTC/Osseo-Fairchild High School/Mayo Clinc-Osseo partnership exists to offer OFHS students nursing classes similar to AP (Advance Placement) classes. +++ The Fall Creek Girls Basketball Team was awarded the 2021 WIAA Rural Insurance Sportsmanship Award in the WIAA Division 4 Girls’ Basketball Tournament.

The Mondovi Public Library has a campaign to raise $1.8 million for a new library. With a recent donation of $250,000, the campaign passed the halfway mark. The new facility is an effort to bring a new and improved library to the community in 2023. +++ On Friday evening, December 17, Gilmanton High School crowned their Homecoming Royalty. Homecoming was delayed this year and was celebrated with activities such as gummy bears fished out of a plate full of whipped cream without using hands, competition in a frozen t-shirts contest to unravel the shirts and put them on, the "Cupid Shuffle", a tug of war and Hungry Hip pos where students used scooters and laundry baskets to collect dodge balls in a life-sized game All the activities looked like great fun.
