June Butler 1924-2022

June Elaine (Schmidt) Butler passed away on March 29, 2022 at her home in Spring Valley.

June was born on May 4, 1924, the daughter of Roy and Signe (Hoeknson) Schmidt. She had two sisters, Lorraine Pierce and Donna McGrory.

June married N. Harold Butler on July 29, 1942 at her family’s farm at Bass Lake, Minnesota. They had two children, Larry H. Butler and Bonnie J. (Butler) Kurschner. They lived on a potato farm at Bemidji, Minnesota and moved to Ellsworth, Wisconsin in 1961 and started the Butler’s V-Store. June became a member of the Eastern Star in Ellsworth.

In 1988 they moved to Part Charlotte, Florida and there she was a member of the Lions Club of Port Charlotte.

June moved back to Wisconsin in 2010 after the passing of her husband Harold Butler. She came to live at Valley Villas in Spring Valley Wisconsin until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband, and her children, Larry Butler and Bonnie Kurschner; nephew, Curt Haakenson; niece, Vicki Moros; and grandson Daniel Kurschner.

June is survived by .ve grandchildren and 15 grandchildren: Holly (Butler) Girdeen (Mike) and their four sons; Adam Girdeen, Matthew Girdeen, Charles Girdeen and Benjamin Girdeen. Aaron Butler (Daralynn) and their son; Dylan Butler. David Kurschner (Natalie) and their two sons; Jacob Kurschner and Joel Kurschner. Ellen (Kurschner) Frits (Mike) and their three children; Katelynn Frits, Ethan Frits and Abigail Frits and Dana (Kurschner) Geyer (Shannon); Adeline Geyer, Samuel Geyer, Alexander Geyer, Matthew Geyer and Aaron Geyer. Three great great grandchildren; sonin- law Mike Kurschner and daughter-in-law Rita Butler.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth, Wisconsin.
