Schuyler J. (Sky) Ofstie, age 85, of Spring Valley, WI died May 4, 2022 at Park View Home in Woodville, WI following a short battle with bladder cancer.

Sky was born on July 9, 1936 in Spring Valley, WI to Harvey and Grace (Braford) Ofstie. He grew up in Spring Valley attending Spring Valley Schools, graduating with the class of 1954. He enlisted in the Air Force, spending 4 years in the US and Germany, was discharged in 1959 returning to Spring Valley. On Nov. 24 1967 Sky was united in marriage to Mary Ann Reynolds in Watertown, SD. They spent their entire 51 years of married life in Spring Valley until her death in 2018. To this union came 1 son Darin, along with Mary Ann’s 2 sons, Jeff & Steve Nelson, from a previous marriage.

Sky was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn’t do. He spent most of his life working in the trades, the last 13 years with CTS in Baldwin in maintenance and retiring in 1998. They spent their retirement years traveling, dancing, or tinkering…always doing something or helping someone with a project. He was a lifelong member of the Collins-Spring Valley Masonic Lodge for 59 years, Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Dept for 64 years, and very proud of his service to both. Sky was a talker and loved to socialize. He couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone he knew. He had been at Parkview Home since January 2021 due to failing mobility.

Sky is survived by his son Darin (Kim) Ofstie of Baldwin, grandchildren Connor and Keegan Ofstie, step-grandchildren Luke and Amber Nelson, Tyler Palmer, brother Reece of Michigan and sister-in-law Judy Ofstie of AZ, brother in law Gary (Pam) Thom, many nieces, nephews, close cousins, friends, and special friend Angela Brunotte.

Preceding him in death were his parents Harvey and Grace, wife Mary Ann, stepsons Jeff (Pam) and Steve Nelson, sister Barb, brothers Steve and Doug, sisters in law Vonnie, Kathy, and Ramona, brother-in-law Jim Alseth, mother and father-inlaw Marian & Donald Thom and Everett Reynolds.

No services are planned. Memorials are preferred in Sky’s name to Collins-Spring Valley Lodge or Spring Valley Fire Dept.
