Prescott High School senior AJ Rohl was the Jan. 4 Kiwanis Student of the Week, nominated by tech education teacher Kyle Schmidt.

“AJ shows up to class on time and prepared each day,” Schmidt said. “He has gone above and beyond to help his own cause, aid his peers and complete projects for the technology education department to help improve our lab experiences. AJ knows all about work ethic and it shows while he is in class.”

AJ is the son of Adam and Tara Rohl. He enjoys hunting, fishing, farming and building things with his hands. He plans to attend Northwood Technical College for diesel mechanics.

Prescott High School senior Ava Johnson is the Jan. 11 Kiwanis Student of the Week, nominated by math teacher Kayla Kinneman.

“Ava has been a tremendous student in Pre-Calculus so far this year,” Kinneman said. “She gives every single problem her all and settles for nothing less than perfection. Ava is incredibly respectful and always willing to participate in classroom discussions or help a fellow classmate out. She has a very bright future ahead of her and is already taking classes at UWRF. It has been an absolute honor working with her so far this year!”

Ava is the daughter of Lee and Michelle Johnson. The honor roll student and National Honor Society member volunteers for Support Women Period and works part-time at Starbucks. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping and working out.

She plans to attend Minnesota State University Mankato in the fall for nursing.
