American Legion supports school lunch program

ELLSWORTH – On Friday, Jan. 20, members of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 204 presented a check to Ellsworth Food Director Dee Rasmusson in the amount of $1,200. The money is to be used to help students that may be struggling to maintain a positive balance in their lunch accounts. Rasmusson would like to extend a huge Thank you to the American Legion.

“We use the donations for families that are having a hard time paying for their child’s or children’s lunch account,” Rasmusson said. “We have a lot of families in our district that are struggling with paying for their meals. They are either on the border line of not getting the free/reduced meals or have other financial issues that they are struggling with. So we try to help out these families and most of them are very appreciative and emotional when we help them out. Times are really tough right now and we want to help those that are trying so hard to pay for meals.

“It is so important that we help with the food insecurity in our community. Thank you again for donating and making life a little easier for those that need it.”
