Connie Mae Brantner, age 87 of Prescott, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Spring Valley Health and Rehab Center with family by her side. Connie was born on Dec. 4, 1935 in Arkansaw, Wis., the daughter of Holt and Blanche (Abel) Doughty. She was raised in Arkansaw where she graduated from high school. Shortly thereafter, she would walk down the aisle with her best friend and say “I do.” On Sept. 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to James Brantner at the Methodist Church in Arkansaw, Wis. This union would be further blessed with sons Randy and Terry.

Although Connie loved being a wife and mother, she also worked at an orthodontic office in River Falls and Hastings. Connie enjoyed sewing and crafting. She was a gifted baker and cook. She looked forward to finding new recipes from magazines and giving them a try. She also took pleasure from reading and checking on her flower gardens. She and James had several memorable trips as they loved to travel and see new parts of the country or world. Their journeys took them from the east coast to the west coast. The mountains may have been their favorite. They also made the trek to England and Hawaii. But really, her greatest time was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She always had the coffee pot on and treats ready for any friends or neighbors that happened to stop by. Festive holidays could very easily have been her favorite, as family, friends and food were all involved. Simply put, she loved the fellowship of others.

Connie will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her best; her husband of 68 years James; her sons Randy (Lori) Brantner, Terry (Sue) Brantner; grandchildren Cory (Christina) Brantner, Cady Brantner, Kasey (Cameron) McCann; great grandchildren Zachery, Vivian, Riyu, Austin, Sienna, Savannah; siblings Donna (Edwin) Bauer, Grace (Ted) Chura; sisters-in-law Carol Doughty, Sally Doughty, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and Bruce Doughty; and sister Wanita (Wendell) Anderson.

A private family celebration is being held. She will be interred in the Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott. Memorials preferred to the discretion of the family and may be mailed to the funeral home.
