Ellsworth resident publishes guide on Revelation

ELLSWORTH – After ten years of research, writing and working fulltime, former Ellsworth High School graduate Robert Wittenberg authored his first book, “Blessed is He That Watches,” a comprehensive study of the book of Revelation. The final book of the Bible can be understood in light of much of the data recorded in other books of the Old Testament.

“I found overwhelming satisfaction in this because it opened my eyes to other books of the Bible,” he said.

Revelation can be theologically like cutting hairs, with dedicated truth seekers and skeptics on all sides. Wittenberg’s purpose is to provide a tool. The collection of resources is compiled to let the reader decide, according to the validated research and scholarly interpretation.

“If we are given a road map, it is up to us to know where we have to be watchful,” he said. “I hope this will spark something within readers to do their own study and research.”

Although Wittenberg has no formal biblical training or background in theological studies, he does have a passion and love for research and facts.

The retired researcher from the transportation industry “loved” the research for the book. Years earlier he had a goal of reading through the Bible annually. He found Revelation person- ally difficult to understand, so he began a quest to learn the message of the text. The 71-year-old author says he felt Revelation would unlock the keys to the rest of the Bible for him. But the more he studied the more confused he became by the vast number of opinions. His more recent and ultimate goal became a calling he sensed, to make the information he compiled from notable biblical scholars and theologians available to more readers.

So he developed the 762 pages in a way that people could understand and benefit from.

“I wanted it to be simpler,” he said. Finding a publisher is a challenge as a new author. Surprisingly, Wittenberg approached only three publishing houses. His text was selected in short order. “Blessed is He That Watches” is published by Covenant Books and available through Amazon, Ingram, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, LifeWay and some self-marketing. It can also be found locally at Chapter 2 Books, Hudson, Wis. and Valley Bookseller, Stillwater, Minn.

“Blessed is He That Watches” was featured at the National Book Exhibit in London and on display at the National Library Conference in Washington D.C. It is available in all English- speaking countries.

Wittenberg is nearly finished with his second book about the Biblical prophet Daniel and feels a deep call- ing to take on the subject of courage in his third.

“I wanted to prepare myself and I wanted my family to be prepared,” he said. This (Revelation study book) is by far the most satisfying and rewarding.”
