Letter to the editor: A radical socialist

To the editor,

Rebecca Cooke’s support for Zohran Mamdani shows she is too extreme to represent Wisconsin in Congress. According to the Free Beacon, Cooke endorsed Mamdani during a recent Democrat meeting in La Crosse.

Zohran Mamdani is running for Mayor in New York City. Mamdani calls himself a “socialist,” called police “racist” and a “major threat to public safety.” He called for police to be “defunded, disbanded, and disarmed” and defended the slogan “Globalize the Intifada,” a phrase widely understood to be a call for violence against Jews. Mamdani opposes prisons and other “carceral” facilities. He advocates for legalizing prostitution and thinks "whiter neighborhoods" should face higher tax rates.

These extreme positions would devastate our economy and undermine public safety. Like Mamdani, Rebecca Cooke is a young person with little experience in the real world. Her resume includes stints as a political fundraiser for Democrats in California and Minnesota. She served on the board of a dark money group with ties to George Soros.

Wisconsin deserves strong, common-sense leadership. We don’t need a radical socialist representing us in Washington. If elected, Rebecca Cooke and Zohran Mamdani will destroy our way of life.
