To Sen. Johnson & Congressman Van Orden,
I just phoned your offices and wanted to follow up with an email. The subject is the immunity or limited liability provisions in the EPA funding bill (or some other funding legislation before you… unknown precisely) in favor of Bayer and other pesticide manufacturers. Specifically, this language is included following intense lobbying by Bayer to limit lawsuits by farmers and others for damage caused by Bayer’s chemicals, principally Glyphosphate… Roundup.
Bayer and other chemical manufacturers are not entitled to immunity for harm their products cause and I urge you to strenuously oppose their lobbying pressures and inclusion of any exculpatory language that would remove or limit their accountability. The farmers of the 3rd district, indeed the farmers of America, deserve nothing less.
Thank you for your consideration.
