Letter to the editor: We need a better system

To the editor,

We are positioned to lead the country toward meaningful reforms that can rebuild trust in how we elect our leaders and get our government healthy again.” ~Henry Rowland, Connecticut Task Force of Veterans for Political Innovation

Our current electoral system in Wisconsin is misaligned. Only about 15 percent of the electorate votes in the primaries. Many of these voters are the most partisan, with the most extreme views. In most voting districts in our state, one party or the other has a lock on who will win the general election.

In our country, 83% of the districts are locked into one party or the other. Ever wonder why our Congress has such a low approval rating, and yet about 95% of the representatives get re-elected? Thank the primary system.

For the military to regain trust in civilian leadership and for all of us to increase the likelihood of being heard—we need a better system. Check out Final Five Voting at http://gro-wwaction.org/bridge-the-divide/
