PRESCOTT – The Prescott City Council bid farewell to outgoing Alderperson Thomas Oss at its April 13 meeting.
With city redistricting, Oss was no longer eligible to run for his Ward 3-4 seat. Lindsey Owens was elected by write-in vote to the seat, and she took her oath of office and seat on the council at its annual organizational meeting Tuesday, April 18.
The council passed a resolution honoring the service of Oss. Mayor Robert Daugherty read the following resolution:
“A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ALDERPERSON THOMAS OSS FOR DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF PRESCOTT
WHEREAS, Council Member Thomas Oss was elected by his constituents to serve as representative for Ward 3 and 4 of the City of Prescott and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Thomas Oss has displayed true dedication to his position, outstanding leadership, sincere concern for all citizens of the City of Prescott, and devotion for the common good of Prescott.
NOW, THEREFORE, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed by a majority vote; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Prescott as follows:
Thomas Oss is commended for the years of dedicated service you have given to the City of Prescott and its residents. We all wish you great health and success in all endeavors.”
At the organizational meeting, Alderperson Bailey Ruona was elected unanimously by council members as city council president and would oversee city government in the absence of the mayor.
Daugherty announced his committee assignments:
Finance – Mayor and full council.
Parks and Public Works – Chair Ruona, Pat Knox and John Peterson.
Health and Safety – Chair Darlyn Hintz, Maureen Otwell and Owens.
Personnel – Chair Otwell, Hintz and Ruona.
Library Board – Knox serves as liaison.
Friends of Freedom Park – Ruona serves as liaison.
Plan Commission – Peterson is liaison.
Prescott Community Recreation – Otwell is liaison.
Prescott Area Fire & EMS Association – Owens is liaison.
