The Prescott Kiwanis Student of the Week for May 17 was Prescott High School junior Ramsey Nicolay, nominated by teacher Dylan Larsen.

“Ramsey has grown academically by leaps and bounds since the beginning of this school year,” Larsen said. “She has transformed from a student of low engagement to a diligent scholar that recognizes the value of hard work. Her positive presence is not limited to academics; she enters the classroom with a smile and story almost every day. Both her classmates and I look forward to seeing her and miss her when she’s gone. Ramsey has established herself as a positive role model in my class, for both her work ethic and her joie de vivre.”

Ramsey is the daughter of Pete Nicolay and Shawna Eichman. She enjoys fishing, watching racing and derby. She plans to pursue a career as a diesel mechanic.

The Prescott Kiwanis Student of the Week for May 24 is PHS senior Kelcey Hanson, nominated by the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee.

“Kelcey was chosen by the Prescott Kiwanis to be the 2023 recipient of the Prescott Kiwanis Scholarship,” the form said. “This scholarship recognizes students for outstanding service to the community. Kelcey, thank you for all you have done for our school district and the community! Good luck to you on your future endeavors!”

Kelcey is the daughter of Jeffrey and Jennifer Hanson. This honor roll student has participated in National Honors Society, Forensics, Pre-Med Club and Track and Field (2019-2022). She is a member of the St. Croix Stars 4-H Club, Teen Advisory Board and Inclusivity Club. She has also participated in many community service projects, such as Day of Service, park clean-ups, Feed My Starving Children and mission trips. She has been a lifeguard at the YMCA, served as a camp counselor and confirmation leader and competed in equestrian events.

Kelcey enjoys traveling, hiking, painting, running, drawing, and making clay sculptures. She plans to attend Arizona State University for nursing.
