Reese Ptacek, a Prescott graduate, earned Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week honors as a member of the Kansas Jayhawk volleyball team.
Ptacek, a middle blocker for the Jayhawks, recorded consecutive starts for the first time all season and made them count, posting 21 kills and 10 blocks. The week started with eight kills and five blocks against West Virginia on Oct. 10 and ended with 13 kills and five blocks against Cincinnati on Oct. 12.
According to a press release from the Jayhawks, Ptacek had a .690 hitting percentage on the week which was third best in the nation in that span. The 1.67 blocks per set led the Big 12.
Prescott had plenty of success with Ptacek on the squad, and now her talent has not gone to waste at the collegiate level.
The freshman joined the team for a memorable season, as they sit at 16-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Kansas is ranked No. 8 in the nation with about a month to play in the regular season.
