Congratulations to University of St. Thomas bound David Regnier on being named Middle Border Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Regnier was named all conference on both offense and defense. Senior Barrett Temmers and Junior Kobe Russell were also named two way all conference players. Will Rohl, Will Packard, Charlie Rohl, Owen Bayer, and Teddy Bernick were all named to the all conference team. Lineman Lewis Kinneman was named Honorable Mention. As expected Prescott and Baldwin-Woodville had the largest contingent of players named all conference.
From the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources: The DNR reminds all spearers interested in harvesting a lake sturgeon from Lake Winnebago during the 2025 sturgeon spearing season to buy their license by Oct. 31, 2024. There are an unlimited number of licenses available for Lake Winnebago, and residents and nonresidents can purchase a license through the Go Wild system or at any license sales location. All license holders must be at least 12 years old. Military personnel home on leave during the spearing season and youth who will turn 12 between Nov. 1, 2024, and the last day of the 2025 spearing season do not need to purchase their license by the Oct. 31 deadline.
Isabella Lenz and the Michigan Tech Women’s Basketball will scrimmage UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire this weekend as they get ready to open the 2024-25 season. A two time All Conference selection, Lenz begins her senior season with 917 career points and has shot 81% from the free throw line during her career with the Huskies. Lila Posthuma, a 2024 Prescott alumnus, has also begun practice at Bradley University. Posthuma will wear #3 as Bradley opens their season with an exhibition game against Knox College of Illinois.
Headshaker of the week. While enjoying lunch at a packed area bar and grill on Sunday, dozens of Packer fans were adorned with various forms of attire. Cheesehead hats, T-shirts, NFL licensed jerseys, and other forms of Green Bay garb were donned by the green and gold faithful. The boisterous cadre of Packer fans included an incessant phone scrolling, green and gold poncho wearing, middle aged man that was belly up at the bar. During much of the action, this “Super Fan” was paying more attention to his cell phone than watching the game. At one point, the barkeep turned the channel. Immediately the nose in the phone Packer Backer screamed “Hey, I’m watching that!” Of course, the customer is always right, so the bartender turned it back to the Chevy Truck commercial. Happy his request was met, the zealous Packer fan went back to looking at his phone. It isn’t just youngsters anymore folks, this Packer Backer's nose in the phone skills would have impressed any teenager. It was a headshaker.
