Now that October is winding to a close, our office is excited to sponsor for the public a free Veterans Day presentation of the award-winning Off Broadway play, “The American Soldier,” to take place at Meyer Middle School Auditorium, 230 N. Ninth St,, River Falls, on Monday Nov. 11, 2024. Doors open at 5 p.m. with showtime at 6 p.m.
The American Soldier is a piece of theatre made to honor our veterans and military families, with its goal being to say thank you to those who have served and sacrificed. It is a powerful one-man show based on letters from veterans and their families, spanning the American Revolution to the present day and our recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is a profoundly human story, with a script crafted through extensive research and countless interviews with veterans and their family members. It is a play that deepens our collective understanding of the soldier's experiences of what they must endure - plus reminds us of what we all have in common as Americans. What better way to celebrate Veterans Day than to experience a truthful, poignant and important one-man show that celebrates Americans of every class and ethnicity who have fought for our freedoms? We would like to welcome the public to come and share this genuine and honest presentation with us as we continue our mission to truly honor our veterans.
“The American Soldier” has played in over 43 cities in 34 states, including performances at the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and the American Legion's National Headquarters. It has been presented in theaters across the US and internationally.
We look forward to seeing you at this powerful celebration of our Veterans. It is a show that you do not want to miss.
