Fundraising event will benefit Adoray

RIVER FALLS – University of Wisconsin- River Falls marketing communications students announced the Second Annual Gift and Thrift, a fundraising event to benefit Adoray Home Health and Hospice.

The event, presented by Halverson Concrete Solutions, will take place 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 in the Falcon’s Nest, located in the campus’s University Center. It will include crafts, shopping, and a silent auction. Santa will also be making an appearance for photo opportunities.

“It’s amazing to get real world experience in event planning and help out an amazing charity. Our class has put so much work into presenting this event and we’re excited to bring some holiday cheer to the University,” said Claire Wagner, a student in this fall’s Sales Promotions and Event Planning class.

Since 2011, UWRF Marketing Communications student-managed events have generated over $40,000 in cash and merchandise for charities. Last year’s inaugural Gift and Thrift contributed over $9,000 in cash and gently used clothing items to River Falls-based Turning Point for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence.

Students are still asking donations including silent auction items or gently used clothing and shoes, which can be dropped off at UWRF in the Math Department Office located in North Hall, Room 207 from 8-11:30 a.m. or between 1-4 p.m.
