The Prescott Cardinals matched scores with Osceola in the first quarter of Friday night’s home Middle Border Conference Football game, but couldn’t put points on the board after the first 12 minutes of play.
Osceola won the game 26-13. Prescott is still looking for its first conference win and is 1-3 overall on the year. Osceola moved to 1-2 in league play.
Both the Cardinal scores were on huge run plays. Aiden Russell knotted the game at 6-6 with an 81-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter to answer an Osceola score.
Osceola scored on their next possession, but with time eclipsing on the first quarter, Cardinal quarterback Grant Stanton sprinted 85 yards for another TD.
Stanton and Russell, with those two runs, made up most of the Prescott offense. Stanton finished the night with 12 runs for 111 yards, and Russell had 11 carries for 101 yards. Kyle Holman carried the ball five times for 19 yards, and Kyle Budworth rushed three times for 10 yards.
Stanton was 1-1 for 16 yards in passing, while Holman completed 3-6 passes for 39 yards.
Benny Rohl caught one pass for 23 yards, and Budworth had one catch for 16 yards.
Prescott travels to take on 2-1 Somerset Friday and is on the road Oct. 30 at Saint Croix Central.
