Drivers examining station orderly after complaints By Mary Beeler Orderly.
That’s about the best word to describe the situation at the Ellsworth driver ‘s license examining station last Wednesday. It sure was a change from the mob scene the week before when those coming earliest to the station were elbowed out of the way by latecomers, and no effort was made by the examiners to determine who was first in line.
A closed door may have made the difference in the two scenes. The simple act of closing the door at the end of the hallway forced waiting people to stand in line in the hallway according to the order in which they came.
The order also depended upon the waiting people. It just so happened that of the eight people waiting in line at 8:30, six were young people from Prescott. They all knew who had come before them, and lined up accordingly when the examiners came. Whether the lineup would have been so polite if eight kids from varied schools were waiting is anyone’s guess…
