53rd annual Dam Days comes to the Valley

SPRING VALLEY – The 53rd annual Spring Valley Dam Days will be held Sept. 17-19. This year’s button honors the Spring Valley Elementary School (former high school) that is slated for demolition. The button features a 1930s era postcard of the then newly built school.

This family-friendly event features live music, the Spring Valley Lions Club’s famous burgers, the Spring Valley Community Cancer Fund Poker Walk/Run, a quilt show, a class car, truck and tractor show and much more.

Miss Spring Valley 2020 Trista Falde and Princess Elizabeth Prudlow will be on hand to crown the 2021 Miss Spring Valley and her court after the grand parade on Sunday afternoon, at the parade viewing stand on McKay Avenue.

Community-wide garage sales will be held Sept. 15-19. Maps and a list of participants can be picked up at Team Oil, Spring Valley Drug, Countryside Cooperative/Cenex and A Butchery Shoppe. Donations will benefit the Spring Valley Community Cancer Fund.

Friday, Sept. 17

Blood Drive, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church Food stands open, 5 p.m. “World famous” SV Lions Club burgers, Snow Valley Riders brats and chicken, specialty food stands Beer Garden, 6 p.m. to midnight, old Ford garage, sponsored by SV American Legion Post 227 Garden State Tractor Pull, 6:30-9:30 p.m., McKay Avenue DJ Scott Karaoke & Music, 8 p.m., The Spillway

Saturday, Sept. 18

10th annual SV Community Cancer Fund Poker Walk/Run. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Walk/run starts at 8:30 a.m. from Emmaus Church. Suggested donation is $25 per person, $15 per child, or $50 per family. Pre-registration required to guarantee a T-shirt. Email [email protected] gmail.com for registration forms. All proceeds stay in SV community.

Food stands open, 10 a.m.

Happ-E Hill Pumpkin Train rides, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., McKay Avenue Spring Valley Cardinal Quilters Quilt Show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Community Center. Vendors, pieced quilts, demonstrations, thrift shop and quilt raffle. Admission is $2.

26th annual Classic Car, Truck & Tractor Show, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Spring Valley Health Care Campus (S830 Westland Drive). Registration begins at 9 a.m. Show concludes with Main Street Cruise. Trophies will be awarded in six classes and two voting categories. No entry fees will be charged; a free lunch will be served. Call 715-778-5545 or visit www.svhcs.org with questions.

Youth Olympics, registration at 11 a.m., event 11: 30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., softball field by dam. Ages preschool through sixth grade.

Bean Bag Toss Tournament, 1 p.m., The Spillway. Registration starts at noon.

Music by Rizer, 3-7 p.m., McKay Avenue. Class rock and blues.

Rock Godz Street Party, 8 p.m. to midnight, McKay Avenue between The Spillway and Mooney’s Rusty Horse. Take an over-the-top, fun trip through the era of 80s rock and metal. Featuring music from Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Journey, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Poison, Prince, Ozzy, Led Zeppelin, and more.

American Legion Beer Garden, noon to 6 p.m., old Ford garage.

Grand Parade, 2 p.m., traveling south from North McKay Avenue, honoring community service.
