The River Falls Fire Department displayed an American flag Sunday, Sept. 11 to commemorate the events of 9/11, which occurred 21 years ago. On that fateful day, 19 militants from the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and attacked targets on American soil. Two planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane hit the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., while the fourth plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pa.
