ELMWOOD – The morning of the Pierce County Dairy Breakfast dawned bright and clear with not a storm cloud in sight. The Todd & Billy Jo Mark farm on County Road CC near Elmwood was a hive of activity Saturday, June 19, with 50 waffle irons sizzling, cheese curds frying and milk pouring.
According to Pierce County Dairy Promotion Committee member Mary Brand, the breakfast served 1,800 people.
“The Dairy Promotion Committee and the Mark family were very pleased with the crowd and thoroughly enjoyed hosting the public at our dairy educational event,” Brand said. “Thank you to everyone who helped at the breakfast or just came to enjoy a morning on the farm.”
A surprise windstorm on Friday, June 11 had knocked down half the machine shed/shop in which dairy breakfast seating and cooking were set to occur. However, thanks to contractor John Mast and his crew from A& J Construction, the shed was rebuilt in just one week.
