RIVER FALLS – George Penn, leader of Wisconsin Citizens United to Amend (WIUTA), will speak at the Tuesday, March 11 AAUW meeting at 7 p.m. in the community room in the downstairs of the River Falls Public Library (140 Union St.)
Penn has been working in a bipartisan effort to overturn the 2010 Supreme Court Ruling on Citizens United vs FEC with a Constitutional Amendment. The decision has allowed large organizations, especially corporations and unions, to overwhelm our elections process with large monetary contributions which has greatly influenced political outcomes.
Wisconsin United to Amend (WIUTA) is a movement that has been building since February 2010 throughout the nation. Penn will discuss origin and specifics of the judicial ruling, its impact, the steps necessary to reclaim equitable representation, and the value in supporting this critical effort. The public is welcome.
