PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports
Police responded to a single- vehicle rollover crash at 9:50 a.m. June 3 on 170th Street one-third mile south of 530th Avenue in the town of Rock Elm. A 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by Carly Beth Haning, 31, Chanhassen, Minn., was traveling north on 170th Street at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, entered the west ditch, hit a culvert, went airborne over a field drive and overturned an unknown number of times on the other side of the drive.
The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side. No tire marks could be found on the road prior to the car sailing into the ditch. The car was towed due to disabling damage. Haning wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. She was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and possession of marijuana.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:21 a.m. June 4 at County Road VV and US Highway 63 in the town of Trenton between a 2008 Mazda Miata, driven by Paul Arthur Plante, 55, River Falls, and 2010 GMC Sierra, driven by Damon Anthony Erickson-Olson, 29, Ellsworth. Plante was stopped at the stop sign on County Road VV at Highway 63 wait- ing for southbound traffic to clear before making a southbound turn. Erickson-Olson was stopped behind Plante; he was looking to his left and thought Plante had already pulled out so he moved forward, rear-ending the Miata.
Both drivers and passenger Brenda Kaye Plante, 53, River Falls, wore seat belts and reported no injuries. The Miata had minor damage, while the Sierra had no damage.
Deputies responded to a car vs. motorcycle crash at 4:43 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at County Road U and 120th Street in the town of Maiden Rock between a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Taylor Harmon, 31, Menomonie, and a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by Jace Groomes, 22, Plum City. Harmon was traveling westbound on County Road U when he lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a right-hand curve, drove left of center and was struck by Groomes, who was heading eastbound. Life-Link III Helicopter airlifted Harmon to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with undisclosed injuries. Groomes was not injured. Maiden Rock/Plum City Area Ambulance Service, Lund Fire Department and LifeLink III assisted Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:42 a.m.
June 9 on 566th Avenue just east of 1090th Street in the town of Oak Grove between a 2017 Ford Fusion, driven by Tessa Nichole Shields, 23, Prescott, and a 2003 Toyota Avalon, driven by Joshua Forester Hira, 20, Prescott.
Shields was heaving west on 566th Avenue and stopped at the stop sign at 1090th Street.
She attempted to turn right to head north on 1090th, but then changed direction to turn left.
Hira was heading north on 1090th and struck Shields when she pulled out from the stop sign. Shields said she looked both ways but didn’t see Hira coming. Both vehicles had disabling damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Shields was cited for improper left turn.
Police responded at 11:42 p.m. Friday, June 10 to an ATV vs. vehicle crash on 825th Street South in Trenton Township, Hager City. A 1999 Arctic Cat ATV, operated by Mataya Kloos, 30, Hager City, was traveling southbound on 825th Street near High- way 63. Kloos drifted off the roadway and struck a parked 2022 GMC Terrain, owned by Kaitlin Draganowski, 26, Almena. Red Wing Paradmedics evaluated Kloos and released her. Red Wing Ambulance transported Kloos’ passenger, Christina Durnbaugh, 35, Spring Valley, Mayo Hospital in Red Wing, Minn., with undetermined injuries. Red Wing Ambulance and Fire assisted PCSO at the scene.
Officers were called at 6:46 p.m. June 11 to a single-motorcycle crash on County Road O three-quarters of a mile south of Highway 65 in the town of River Falls. A 2015 Harley Davidson, operated by Travis David Rickford, 39, Fargo, N.D., was traveling north on County Road O. He attempted to negotiate a left curve, struck loose gravel and entered the east ditch. The motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage. Rickford, who wore no helmet or protective gear, reported no injuries.
Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash at 11:34 p.m. June 12 on County Road F just north of Highway 29 in the town of Clifton. A 2018 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Amanda Rose Hildebrandt,
38, River Falls, was traveling south on County Road F approaching Highway 29.
Hildebrandt said she dropped her pop and reached down to grab it, causing her vehicle to enter the west ditch. The vehicle struck a culvert and went airborne, landing on the front of the vehicle and rolling. The Elantra was towed due to disabling damage. An ambulance transported Hildebrandt, who wore a seat belt, to River Falls Area Hospital with suspected serious injuries. She was cited for operate without valid license (second within three years).
