PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports

Ovcers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:47 p.m. May 6 near W6324 Highway 35 just east of Wabash Street/County Road EE in Bay City between a 2015 Ram 1500, driven by Michael Charles Wasmund,

69, Prior Lake, Minn., and 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Hunter Uriah Hanson, 16, Maiden Rock.

Wasmund was traveling west on Highway 35 through Bay City and Hanson was leaving the Dollar General parking lot a W6324 Highway 35.

Hanson left the driveway with the intention of turning eastbound onto Highway 35, but entered the highway in the path of Wasmund. Wasmund T-boned Hanson’s vehicle, crossed over the highway, entered the south ditch and came to rest facing southwest. Hanson spun around and came to rest on the edge of the north lane facing northwest. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Both drivers and passenger Joanne Dorothy Wasmund, 67, Prior Lake, Minn., wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 10:31 a.m. May 14 on Highway 35 just west of 530th Street in the town of Isabelle between a 2000 Ford Focus, driven by Benjamin Thomas Schmid, 53, Marshall, Minn., and 1993 Harley Davidson Touring, operated by Dale Thomas DeGross, 68, Burnsville, Minn. Schmid was traveling south on Highway 35, as was DeGross, who was in front of Schmid.

DeGross slowed to a stop behind stopped southbound travc who was waiting for a vehicle to make a lefthand turn onto County Road D. Schmid struck DeGross from behind. Schmid’s vehicle had minor damage. He wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. He was cited for inattentive driving. DeGross’ motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage. He wore boots, jacket, long pants and a three-quarter helmet. An ambulance transported him to a Minnesota hospital with suspected minor injuries.
