PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports

Deputies responded to a vehicle fire at 3:24 p.m. April 7 on County Road QQ just south of County Road FF in the town of Clifton. A 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Nathan Ray Wosick, 23, Apple Valley, Minn., was traveling south on County Road QQ. Wosick pulled over when the vehicle began smoking heavily. It soon started on fire and became fully engulfed. The vehicle was towd due to disabling damage. Wosick reported no injuries.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle roll over crash at 5:48 a.m. April 8 on Highway 29 just south of County Road MM in the town of Clifton. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Cain Felix Anderson, 32, River Falls, was going west on Highway 29 when it lost control on the snow-covered road. The rear of the vehicle fishtailed before the truck went into the ditch and rolled onto its top. The driver was able to remove himself. He wore a seat belt and reported possible injuries, but wasn’t transported. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.

Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 6:37 a.m. April 8 on Highway 10 one-third mile east of 800th Street in the town of Trimbelle. A 2007 Dodge Dakota, driven by Kenneth James Schingledecker, 76, Ellsworth, was heading west on Highway 10. Midway through a large curve, he lost control on the icy road. The truck’s rear-end slid out, spinning the truck around. It entered the north ditch rear-end first and overturned, coming to rest on the driver’s side. The Dodge was towed due to disabling damage. Schingledecker wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:12 a.m. April 8 on Highway 63 just south of 890th Avenue in the town of Gilman. A 2003 Ford F150, operated by Fitzroy Amirdakumar Ambrose, 80, Spring Valley, was heading north on Highway 63 when it began to slide on the snow/ice-covered road. The truck entered the east ditch, hit a large highway sign and four posts and came to rest facing west. The truck was towed due to disabling damage. Ambrose wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 1:12 p.m. April 11 at 370th Avenue and Highway 63 in the town of Trenton between a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by William Joseph Hoyt, 75, Ellsworth, and a 2012 DT80J street sweeper, operated by Rodney Allen Glampe, 66, Ellsworth. Hoyt was heading north on Highway 63, then turned left to head west on 370th Avenue. The street sweeper struck Hoyt’s van in the intersection. Hoyt said he thought Glampe was going to wait for him to pass before moving. Glampe was performing street sweeping duties for the Pierce County Highway Department when he reversed and traveled north, striking Hoyt’s truck. Glampe said he didn’t know the truck was right behind him when he was backing up. He said he had the flashing hazard lights operating as well. The van had functional damage while the street sweeper had minor damage. Both drivers reported no injuries.

Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 9:35 p.m. April 11 on Highway 35 one-third mile east of County Road K in the town of Trenton. A 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Haley Margaret Banitt, 29, Red Wing, Minn., was heading north on Highway 35 when it traveled left of center and off the roadway into the ditch, where it struck a propane tank and railroad track heater. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Banitt, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. She was arrested for OWI and possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – driver.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 6:59 a.m. April 12 on County Road C just north of 490th Avenue in the town of Ellsworth. A 2019 Subaru WRX, driven by Conner

Leroy Shonkwiler, 21, Ellsworth, was heading north on County Road C. He drove onto the right/east shoulder, crossed a driveway and entered the east ditch. He continued on and through a bare plowed field, coming to rest facing northwest. Shonkwiler notified police of the crash while en route to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. He told police he had closed his eyes for a second and hit the gravel. He was tired and on his way to work. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Shonkwiler reported wearing a seat belt.

Police were notified of a deer vs. vehicle crash at 2:30 a.m. April 13 on 690th Street just north of 770th Avenue in the town of Martell. David Charles Kidd, 68, Beldenville, was driving an ambulance for Ellsworth Area Ambulance where he struck a deer. The ambulance had functional damage. Kidd, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 on Highway 35 near 1200th Street in the town of Oak Grove. Hope Northagen, 21, Maple Grove, Minn., was operating a 2012 Subaru northbound on Highway 35 when she lost control while negotiating a sharp curve and descending a hill. The vehicle traveled left of center and crossed over the southbound lane into the west ditch, where it came to rest at the bottom of an embankment. Allina Health System Ambulance Service transported Northagen to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with undisclosed injuries. Prescott Police, Prescott Fire, Allina and Pierce County Highway Depart- ment assisted Pierce County Sheriff's Office at the scene.

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 12:41 p.m. Thursday, April 14 on Highway 65 near 760th Avenue in the town of River Falls. A 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Kassidy Bauspies, 22, Ellsworth, was heading south on Highway 65 when a vehicle in front of her stopped to take a lefthand turn into a private driveway. Bauspies was not able to stop and lost control of the vehicle, entering the west ditch. Allina Health System Ambulance Service transported her to River Falls Area Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. River Falls Fire and River Falls Police assisted Pierce County Sheriff's Office at the scene.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 1:40 p.m. April 15 on 480th Avenue just east of 515th Street in the town of Ellsworth. A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Joseph Randall Plummer, 60, Ellsworth, was heading east on 480th Avenue when a tree branch fell and struck the front grill area of the truck. There were high winds that day. The truck had functional damage but was drivable. Plummer wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:29 p.m.April 15 at US Highway 10 and First Street in Plum City between a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by Travess Otis Raysor, 24, St. Paul, and a 2012 Ford F150, driven by Susan Marie Yerigan, 69, Arkansaw. Raysor was heading west on Highway 10 just east of County Road S. Yerigan was stopped at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road S. She started to head north through the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to Raysor. Raysor struck Yerigan’s passenger side. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Raysor, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. His passenger, Raymundo Ignacio Diaz, 70, River Falls, reported possible injuries but was not transported; he also wore a seat belt. Yerigan wore a seat belt and reported possibly injuries, but wasn’t transported. She was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
