PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports

Officers responded to a vehicle vs. mailbox crash at 12:31 p.m. March 6 at N7478 County Road E in the town of River Falls. A 2012 Cadillac CTS, driven by Antonia Faye Velure, 63, Hager City, was traveling north on County Road E when it lost control on the snow/slush-covered road, entered the east ditch and struck the mailbox. The vehicle had functional damage. Velure and a 1-year-old passenger wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Police were called to a two-vehicle crash at 7:36 p.m. March 10 at US Highway 63 and 180th Avenue in the town of Trenton between a 2005 Toyota Sienna, driven by Bridget Allen Reuvers, 45, Northfield, Minn., and a 2016 Dodge Dart, driven by Michael D. Oellrich, 49, Ellsworth. Both vehicles were heading south on Highway 63 when Reuvers slowed down to turn right onto 180th Avenue and Oellrich rear-ended her. Both vehicles had functional damage and were not towed. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a UTV crash with injury on private property at 11:02 p.m. March 10 near 170th Avenue and 770th Street in the town of Trenton. Jesse Cox, 33, Red Wing, Minn., was operating a 2018 Polaris UTV doing chores when he hit a mound of ice, lost control in the pasture and rolled onto the side. Cox’s hand was on the roll cage when the UTV tipped over. The UTV had no damage. Red Wing Ambulance Service transported Cox to Mayo Hospital in Red Wing, Minn. with undisclosed injuries. Weather was considered a factor in the crash.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 8:46 a.m. March 15 at N210 McKay Ave., Spring Valley, between a 2003 Lincoln, driven by Janet Lynn Hamater, 41, Spring Valley, and a legally parked 2018 Subaru Outback, owned by Shawna Rene Friske, Spring Valley. Friske was sitting in the driver’s seat of her parked vehicle when Hamater struck her driver’s side mirror with her passenger side mirror. Hamater didn’t stop and continued on to her residence. She said she saw Friske follow her and continued home where she planned to speak with her. Hamater said another vehicle had been coming, so she moved over. Friske said there was no other vehicle.

Friske’s Outback had functional damage, while Hamater’s Lincoln had none. Neither driver reported any injuries.

Police were informed of a vehicle vs. sign crash at 2:13 a.m. March 19 at US highways 10 and 63 in the town of Ellsworth. An unknown vehicle had been traveling west and southbound on Highway 63 when it left its lane, veered left and into the grass median, where it struck a divided highway sign. The sign post was damaged and the sign landed in the northbound lane of Highway 63, where another vehicle struck it. That vehicle had no damage. The striking vehicle left the scene.
