Pierce County accident reports At 6:50 a.m. July 11, deputies responded to a onevehicle crash on Highway 10 just west of 490th Street in the town of Hartland. A 2011 Ford F150, driven by Jared Clark Baldwin, 25, Durand, was heading westbound on Highway 10, swerved to the right to avoid a deer, went onto the shoulder, steered left, but sideswiped a guard rail end. Baldwin, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries; the vehicle had functional damage.
At 12:21 p.m. July 11, police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of highways 63 and 35 in the town of Trenton between a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3, driven by Kent Alan Sklarow, 35, Minneapolis, and a 1999 GMC Jimmy, driven by Robert Allan Peterson, 70, Red Wing, Minn. Sklarow was northbound on Highway 35 and stopped at a stop sign. A motorhome was heading northbound on Highway 63 in the right lane, and stopped at that stop sign. Peterson was heading northbound on Highway 63 too, in the left lane next to the motorhome, and also stopped at the stop sign. Sklarow proceeded into the intersection at the same time as the motorhome and Peterson; while the motorhome stopped, Peterson did not because he couldn’t see Sklarow’s Porsche due to the motorhome. Sklarow struck the Jimmy’s front passenger side. Both men wore seat belts and reported no injuries. The Porsche had disabling damage, while the Jimmy had functional damage. The motorhome was not struck.
At 8:30 p.m., July 11, police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 35 just north of 375th Avenue in the town of Diamond Bluff. A 2004 Mazda 323, driven by Megan Ann Nestingen, 24, Hastings, Minn., was traveling northbound on Highway 35 just south of 375th Avenue when it swerved to miss a vehicle in her lane of traffic. She over corrected and entered the east ditch, continued north and entered a cornfield. Nestingen, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Nestingen was cited for operate without valid license, failure to keep vehicle under control and failure of operator to notify police of accident.
At 9:11 p.m. July 11, deputies responded to a onevehicle crash on 450th Avenue about one-quarter mile west of 70th Street/County Road S in the town of Rock Elm. A 2002 Jeep Liberty, driven by Victor Salas Tecpile, 34, Elmwood, was traveling westbound on 450th Street and swerved to miss a deer in the road. The vehicle went off the road into the north ditch, struck and power pole and knocked it over. The vehicle continued on in the ditch and came to rest about 50 yards north of the power pole. The vehicle had damage on its passenger side that suggested the vehicle rolled 90 degrees onto its right side. It was towed due to disabling damage. The driver, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. A passenger,
Gerardo Soto Aluerdra, 38, Elmwood, also wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. Tecpile was cited for failure of operator to notify police of accident, operate motor vehicle without insurance and operate without valid license.
At 8:35 a.m. July 12, deputies responded to a twovehicle crash at the intersection of highways 10 and 63 in the town of Trimbelle between a 2015 Buick, driven by Eugene P. Ritchey Jr., 63, Ellsworth, and a 2014 Dodge Ram, driven by Perry Jay Larson, 54, Ellsworth. Ritchey was traveling eastbound on Highway 10 when he tried to slow for a southbound (right) turn onto Highway 63. Larson was pulling up to the stop sign on Highway 63 at Highway 10. Ritchey said he tried to make the turn but his steering and maybe his brakes went out. His front passenger corner hit Larson’s front end. Both men wore seat belts and reported no injuries; both vehicles had functional damage. At 9:16 a.m. July, 13, police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of highways 63 and 35 in the town of Trenton between a 2018 Ford Escape, driven by
Patricia Jean Arnold, 51, Red Wing, Minn., and a 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by Sandra Rae Fritze, 57, Stockholm. Arnold was going through the four-way stop when Fritze proceeded to also go and struck Arnold’s vehicle in the front right fender. Fritze said she was looking at a vehicle that was going the opposite way of Arnold’s and decided to go. The Ford had disabling damage and had to be towed, while the Nissan had functional damage. Both women wore seat belts and reported no injuries.
At 1:59 p.m. July 18, deputies responded to a motorcycle crash on Highway 63 just south of 830th Street in the town of Trenton. A 2006 Honda 360 motorcycle, driven by Paul Frederick Hein IV, 34, Hager City, was heading northbound on Highway 63, approaching the Highway 63/830th Street intersection. A car was stopped waiting to make a left turn and a vehicle was slowing behind that car. Hein said the truck in front of him braked hard and he was forced to swerve to the right to avoid a collision. The motorcycle overturned and both Hein and his passenger, Hailey Ann Nadeau, 22, Cottage Grove, Minn., were thrown. The motorcycle came to rest against a guardrail face. Neither Hein nor Nadeau wore helmets. They had suspected minor injuries, but were not transported to a hospital. The motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage.
