PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports

•Police responded to an ATV rollover crash at 8:34 p.m. June 27 on private property at N5732 County Road QQ in the town of Oak Grove. A juvenile was driving a 2004 Arctic Cat ATV, owned by Scott A. Nitschke, Prescott, down the driveway at an excessive speed when they lost control of the ATV. It rolled and came to a stop on its side at the end of the driveway. The juvenile was admitted to the hospital with a suspected head injury. The report does not indicate the juvenile wore a helmet or any protective gear.

•Officers were called to a one-vehicle crash at 8:39 p.m. June 27 on Main Street one-third of a mile south of Blue Goose Hill Road in Plum City. A 2003 Mazda MZ6, driven by Jake Ellis King, 33, Plum City, was heading southbound on Main Street/County Road U, crossed the center line and the opposite traffic lane, entered the ditch, struck an embankment and overturned. The police report indicates King was either texting, dialing or playing a game on his phone at the time. He was not wearing a seat belt; EMS transported him to a Minnesota hospital with suspected serious injuries. His vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. King was cited for operate without valid license.

•Police responded to a vehicle vs. dog crash at 11:32 p.m. June 27 on County Road C just north of 431st Avenue in the town of Ellsworth. A 2019 Toyota Rav 4, driven by Taylor James Sieling, 30, Ellsworth, was heading northbound on C when he struck a dog in the roadway. Darkness was a contributing factor. Sieling, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. The vehicle had minor damage.

•Pierce County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 3:16 p.m. June 28 on Highway 72 just west of Public Avenue in Elmwood. A 1998 Ford F-150, driven by Patrick John Bechel, 73, Elmwood, was traveling westbound on West Race Avenue when Bechel had an undisclosed medical episode, lost consciousness, went off the roadway towards the right, drove through a ditch and struck the side of a house at 122 W. Race Ave., owned by Anthony L. Delong. EMS transported Bechel to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with possible injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. The truck had minor damage.

•Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:22 p.m. June 28 at Highway 65 and County Road J in the town of Ellsworth between a 2006 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Stephen Gregory Murphy, 28, Spring Valley, and a 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by Trent Joseph Perez, 53, Ellsworth. Murphy was traveling southbound on Highway 65 and stopped on the highway, waiting to turn left onto County Road J. Perez, who was also southbound on 65, said he didn’t see Murphy stopped and rear-ended his Sebring at highway speed, sending it into the northbound lane of traffic, where it stopped facing north. Perez’s vehicle came to rest in the southbound passing lane facing southeast. Both drivers wore their seat belts and reported no injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed due to disabling damage.

•Deputies responded to an ATV vs. dog crash at 9:06 p.m. June 29 near W6376 and W6373 570th Ave., Ellsworth. A 2011 Polaris Sportsman, driven by Gregory Joseph Marks, Ellsworth, was operating eastbound on 570th Avenue in the town of Ellsworth when a dog belonging to Jon F. Krauss at W6376 570th Ave. entered the roadway. Marks tried to break and may have struck the dog in the roadway. The ATV appeared to have broken a tie rod, causing the front left tire to turn and the steering to malfunction. Marks drove to the right and into the home’s driveway, where he was thrown from the ATV. EMS transported Marks to the hospital with suspected broken bones, a head injury, lacerations and a neck injury. He was wearing protective eye gear.

•Officers were called at 4:10 p.m. July 2 to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 63 just east of 150th Street in the town of Trenton between a 2019 Honda CRV, driven by Lisa Jill Parker, 64, Ellsworth, and a 1993 Ford Ranger, driven by Harley Nathan Cylkowski, 17, Ellsworth. Parker was heading northbound on Highway 63; Cylkowski was right behind her. Parker slowed and came to a stop for another vehicle in front of her that was waiting to make a left-hand turn. Southbound traffic was heavy and Parker remained stopped for a few moments. Cylkowski rear-ended Parker’s CRV, which received minor damage. The Ranger had to be towed due to disabling damage, but no injuries were reported. Both drivers wore their seat belts.
