What specific skills and/or experiences have helped you to serve as trustee (if an incumbent)? If a challenger, what skills and/or experiences have prepared you to take on this role?  Serving for 30 years you learn how to effectively manage the village

What issues are most pressing in the village? What would you do about them?  Lack of funding from the state: basic functions of government are not being funded adequately

If you are an incumbent, what board/village accomplishment(s) are you most proud of? If a challenger, what has the previous board done well?  Being part of boards that have had vision to help develop Spring Valley

What do you see as priorities the village should focus on?  Infrastructure and new development

What could the village do better?  Infrastructure

If you received a $1 million grant to use for the village in any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why?  Roads/ parks

Where are your favorite places to spend time in the village? Why do you live here?  Walking through the village, Spring Valley has best of all worlds: rural setting/close to Twin Cities activities; great place to raise children

Why should people vote for you? What differentiates you from other board members/candidates?  I care and have no political agenda. My fellow board members are all decent, caring people.

How can people contact you? Telephone

Prior elected offices: Village of Spring Valley Trustee, 2022-present and Spring Valley Area Ambulance - Assistant Director of EMS, 2012-present

What specific skills and/or experiences have helped you to serve as trustee (if an incumbent)? If a challenger, what skills and/or experiences have prepared you to take on this role?  I feel my biggest asset that has helped me in the position of trustee is and continues to be my communication skills. When people don't have all of the facts in front of them and have questions, it is our job to help guide them to better understand the situation or topic. The more informed we are, the better we can serve our community.

What issues are most pressing in the village? What would you do about them?  Funding continues to be a struggle for our village. We all want our village to be the very best it can be and have all of the resources and tools it deserves, but when it comes to the end of the day we also have a budget to balance. I will continue to work hard with my peers to help bring commerce and tax dollars into our village and look for cost effective ways to get the most return for our taxpayers.

If you are an incumbent, what board/village accomplishment(s) are you most proud of? If a challenger, what has the previous board done well?  As an incumbent, I am incredibly proud of our focus over the last two years in growing our business community not only in our Business Park but rejuvenating our downtown businesses. I also take great pride in the work we have done and continue to do to ensure the Village of Spring Valley employees have tools and support they need to do the jobs they are tasked with day in and out.

What do you see as priorities the village should focus on?  I feel our priority focus over the next couple years needs to be on making more information easily accessible to the public (i.e. online ordinance book that is searchable, etc.) We also need to work hard on expanding our public safety.

What could the village do better?  We as a village can always work to improve transparency and communication. We have a lot of great things going for our village and our neighbors/citizens should feel comfortable knowing their village is being ran by good people who have a passion for ensuring the community’s needs are being met.

If you received a $1 million grant to use for the village in any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why?  I would invest the money into our Public Safety Departments to ensure our staffing levels and needs are being met and I would refer any remaining funds to grants for businesses to expand or open their doors in our community.

Where are your favorite places to spend time in the village? Why do you live here?  My favorite places to be in our village are either on our walking paths or standing on top of the dam looking over the lake/village. I have lived my entire life in Spring Valley and intend to remain as it's not only home, but it's a place I feel safe and know we as citizens will always look out for one another!

Why should people vote for you? What differentiates you from other board members/candidates? Two years ago when I ran for the position of trustee my intentions/commitment at that time were and continue to be, to work hard for our citizens ensuring our village remains as safe as possible, a place where people want to raise a family, and where we continue to grow positively in all directions.
