Baseball
Prescott and Ellsworth squared off for a pair of rivalry games. The Cardinals took the first game 2-1 and had a six-run sixth inning to take game two 8-2. Prescott is 13-4 overall and 8-2 in conference, just behind 9-1 Altoona. The two squads are set to compete May 12 and 14 for the conference lead. Ellsworth is having success in non-conference but fell to 2-8 in conference. The Panthers closed the week with a 9-8 win over Arcadia and a 14-2 win over Bangor, with Prescott beating Elk Mound 6-2 and Ashland 14-4.
River Falls split with New Richmond with a 6-2 win and a 5-4 loss. The Wildcats closed the week with a 15-4 win over Cumberland. River Falls is 9-5 overall and 5-2 in conference, set to take on 17-2 Hudson on May 12 and 14.
After losses 10-3 against Boyceville, 27-0 against Mondovi and 6-1 against Colfax, Spring Valley got back in the win column with a 4-2 win over Clear Lake. The Cardinals are now 5-8 in Dunn-St. Croix Conference play. Elmwood/Plum City is now 2-7 in conference after falling 14-1 against Glenwood City.
Softball
The Prescott-Ellsworth matchup lived up to the hype in 2026. Down 8-2 in the top of the seventh, Prescott rallied all the way back to tie the game. In the bottom of the inning, Ellsworth freshman Tate Huppert hit a walk-off single to secure a win. In game two, Ellsworth led 4-0 before a 14-run fourth inning put the Cardinals in the driver’s seat. They would go on to a clean fifth inning to win by run rule.
Spring Valley went 1-3 in a four-game week. The Cardinals lost to Boyceville 8-0, beat Mondovi 12-8, lost to Colfax 10-0 and lost to Clear Lake 13-11. EPC’s lone game was a 9-3 loss to Clear Lake.
River Falls had a 3-1 week, with wins 11-6 over Eau Claire Memorial, 6-2 over Eau Claire Memorial and 11-0 over Wausau East, and losing 5-3 to Wausau West.
Track and Field
River Falls, Prescott and Ellsworth competed at the Stan Barr Relays, each with some solid placements. River Falls had a handful of individuals lead their event, being Abigail Treichel in the high jump, Blake Schneider on the pole vault and Kayla Hoeft in the pole vault. Prescott did not have a first-place individual placement but had a ton of solid placements including Makaria Haas taking second in discus and Eyan Miller second in shot put.
Spring Valley and EPC finished in the middle of the pack in a meet at Boyceville ahead of the conference championship meet. Spring Valley’s Abby Biggs won the 100m hurdles and took second in the high jump. For EPC, Lillian Pullen won the 200-meter race and Timothy Bechel won the high jump.
Boys Golf
River Falls tied for fifth of eight in a conference meet at Chippewa Falls and took second at a conference meet in Eau Claire. The fifth-place finish hurt the Wildcats in the conference standings, but yet another top two result evened things out. Senior Ryan Swanson is still dominating, tying for a win in Eau Claire with a 32.
Ellsworth took second of eight teams in Somerset and Prescott took seventh. The Panthers are still fighting for one of the top spots in the Middle Border Conference. It was the young freshman Evan Helgeson who led the way for the Panthers, finishing one stroke back of the leader with a 39.
SV/EPC had a tough Dunn-St. Croix meet, taking seventh of seven as a team. Sophomore Ruger Peavey tied for fifth with a score of 42.
Girls Soccer
After beating Superior 2-0 and Menomonie 7-0, River Falls enters a May 11 rivalry matchup against Hudson with an 8-2-1 overall record and a 5-0-1 conference record. The Wildcats are the lone team in the Big Rivers Conference without a loss in league play.
Boys Tennis
River Falls got a clean sweep 7-0 over Amery on May 6. Ellsworth put up a fight against Chippewa Falls but came up short 5-2 May 6.
