Elmwood/Plum City got into the win column when it went on the road to beat rival Spring Valley 5-4. The Wolves took a commanding lead before the Cardinals pushed back hard, coming up just short. Spring Valley won its other game during the week 11-2 over Clear Lake with great pitching from Will Biggs, going five innings in the win.
River Falls is up to four straight wins after losing the season opener, securing wins 3-0 and 4-2 over Menomonie and 9-6 over St. Croix Falls in a three-game week. The strong pitching week featured Ethan Jeffers getting all but one out of the 3-0 win and Landon McQuade throwing six innings in the 4-2 win.
Prescott split a pair of pitching duels against Osceola, winning 3-0 at home and losing 2-1 on the road. Brody Temmers threw six shutout innings in the win and Jackson Matzek brought home a pair of runs with a fifth inning triple. A tough Somerset squad gave Ellsworth problems on the week, winning 15-1 and 12-1 over the Panthers to move them to 1-4 on the season.
Softball
Spring Valley improved to 3-1 with an 11-1 statement over EPC. Megan Harvey threw five innings of one-run ball and the Cardinals had seven hits as a team. The Cardinals also beat Clear Lake 5-3. Despite some well-played games this year, the Wolves are still itching for their first win.
River Falls took on a rival of its own in Hudson, winning 5-3 and losing 10-0. Audra Adermann was lights out in the win, going the distance in the circle. The Wildcats are 4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference.
Ellsworth is still looking for a win as well, dropping games to two of the conference favorites to begin the year. The Panthers most recently lost 10-0 and 15-4 against Somerset. Prescott is now winners of four straight, beating Osceola 17-0 and 10-4 to improve to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in conference.

The Spring Valley boys finished ninth and the girls 10th. Ellsworth’s Adolfo Mendez won the 1,600-meter race, Libby Groh won the high jump and Chace Kressin won the discus event.

Due to a weekend weather cancellation, it turned out to be a one-game week for River Falls. That one game was worth the price of admission, though, with the Wildcats beating Chippewa Falls 6-0 to improve to 3-1 on the season. Up next for River Falls is a road matchup against Eau Claire Memorial on April 21 and a home test against New Richmond on April 24.
