The 29th annual Art on the Kinni attracted 5,000 art lovers and this past Saturday along the White Pathway by the Kinni in River Falls. It featured 72 artists with a range of drawings, paintings, sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, photography, and fibers. This juried art fair was coordinated by Brian Johnson of Community Art’s Base with the invaluable help of 30 volunteers.

Sept. 6 was blessed with two drenching deluges that sent people sheltering inside tents, a resilient crowd, buckthorn eating Scape Goats, and great music. It ended appropriately with a double rainbow over the Kinni.

Susan Bushard, and Eric Lichman judged the artist’s booths. The top three booth awards went to:

  • First place- Kate Bauman Arts of Lake City, Minn. with a sculpture/pottery booth
  • Second place: Created to Give ceramics, artist Joan Meyers of Coon Valley
  • Third place: Lawerence Sawyer Photography of Blaine, Minn.

Most of the vendors said it was a great day for selling despite the afternoon rains.

The current show in the Art’s House gallery is called Coming Into Being and features Roy Annett, Megan Riley, and Leslie Batt-Lutz. Our Meet the Artist date will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Art’s House Gallery, 127 N. Main Street, River Falls.
