Art’s House opened the Holiday Gift Boutique on Nov. 13 with a Meet the Artist gathering on Nov. 15. Thea Ennen and Dave JaVue provided festive music from 2-4 p.m. Twenty-five artists are featured in this event that carries with it the idea of originator Kay Fritz, that everyone should be able to own original art at a reasonable price (especially for Christmas.)
This gallery includes a number of new artists with new energy: Alli Luhman, Amy Delong, Andreus Schoettle, Elaine Schultz, Katie Reeves, Lauren Jacobson, Libby Ziegler, Miranda Kieren, and Tyler Boles. The artist’s gathering was also an opportunity to see what direction some of the long-standing artists have brought to their work and what Christmas looks like from their perspective. Some of the stand outs are acrylics by Zwalizak-Brandt (check out the front window), oils by Prunchnofski, fiber art by Manske and Gunther-Johnson, and ceramics by Jennifer King and Batt-Lutz.
So, what’s new and exciting? Creative hanging ornaments like Alli Luhmann’s hanging leaves made of Beetle glass, John Grandecort’s watercolors turned ornaments, Kathy Manske’s stitchery. Lisa Kreutil’s crocheted Christmas bulbs in addition to her elves’ hats. Newcomer Andreus Schoettle brings his laser-cut wooden images to trendy ornaments, while illustrator Jeanna Krause hand-paints her wooden ornaments. Has anyone decked their chairs yet? Carolina Downs has chair-rail hanging angels.
Some of the most unique gifts this year include Downs’ wooden hand-turned pens and letter openers, Jen Falkofske’s 252-piece puzzles made from her impressive photographs and Tyler Boles’ hand-blown glass soap dispensers.
The gallery is well stocked with desirable gifts like great original acrylic, watercolor, oil paintings and hand thrown pottery. When you visit don’t miss photography by Amy Delong or Jen Falkoske.
Best deals at Art’s House include hand-turned wood pens at $20, glass pendants starting at $10, Delong photo calendars at $25, Megan Riley food stickers at $4 and digital prints ranging from $20-50.
The best deal on Main Street continues to be original artists ‘greeting cards at $2.50 to $6. The current show ends Dec. 27. The next gallery show will begin Feb. 5.
