Art’s House Gallery in River Falls hosted UWRF art students Wednesday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Nov. 1. The Falcon students brought new faces and Halloween themed witches, Draculas, skeletons, and haunted photographs, prints, paintings and pottery to the gallery.
Ada Bartholomay’s: The Memory Haunts Me (pictured with this column) is one of many unsettling art pieces. A grand opening reception welcomed the group on Wednesday afternoon that featured live music by Keauna Shae and Jesse Katzman. The show provided a comfortable community connection to display art in a professional setting outside of the university. A valuable addition to the show was the generational as well as the college/community mix.
The photography instructor shared how old-fashioned film and vintage cameras helped her students to understand aperture and distance. Prints developed from negatives in an old-fashioned darkroom made the photographs unique and somehow more eye-catching.
Here’s an art challenge for next generation artists. The River Falls Bee Committee is hosting a Pollinator Garden Contest for young artists, grades K-5. Artists are encouraged to paint or draw colorful gardens that could attract pollinators.
Kevin Westhuis from RF Utilities will put the top two winners on one of their RF utility boxes and all artwork will be displayed at City Hall Gallery April through June 2026. Look for The Holiday Gift Gallery featuring 25 local artists. The show should be up by Thursday, Nov. 13 with a Meet the Artists opening 1-5 p.m. Nov. 15.
