Staff report
Ellsworth’s No. 1 singles player, Leo Bergner, picked up a win over Tyler Smigla of Baldwin-Woodville Monday, 7-5, 2-6, 1-6 as the young Panther team continues to grow on the season.
Baldwin-Woodville went on to win, 6-1. Falling for Ellsworth were Joe Schmalstig at No. 3 and Lander Levers at No. 4.
The Panthers don’t have a player at No. 2 or in doubles action.
“The boys are doing the best they can,” Ellsworth coach Brad Baker said. “They continue to play hard and work hard in practice. It’s unfortunate that we have only the three varsity players (and one JV player).”
