Betty Ann Gregor, 93, of Hudson, Wis., passed away at the Hudson Hospital on Monday, July 15, 2024, with her loving family at her side. Betty Arneson was born on Aug. 24, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Oscar and Idella (Green) Arneson.

When Betty was 17, she was selected to represent New Richmond as a Fire Queen in the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Later that summer she was also crowned as the Queen of the St. Croix County Centennial Celebration in Hudson at Lakefront Park.

Betty graduated from New Richmond High School in 1948. While in high school she was a dance enthusiast, played the piano, sang in the glee club, and wrote a column for the school newspaper. She was also a Sunday School teacher.

After high school, Betty’s career started at the bank in New Richmond. She took dictation for the president of the bank among other duties. She also worked at Hamm’s Brewery in St. Paul before moving to River Falls where she held the position of secretary to President Kleinpell and then later to the Dean of men and women.

She married the love of her life, Eugene Gregor on June 6, 1951. They were blessed with four children: Susan, Jim, Lori, and Dan.

Betty and Eugene were active members of St. Bridget’s Church in River Falls throughout their adult lives.

Eugene and Betty owned Red Wing Dry Cleaners and Laundry in Red Wing, Minn., and River Falls, Wis.

Eugene and Betty enjoyed traveling, taking many trips over the years to destinations all around the world.

After raising her children, she resumed her banking career at WESTconsin Credit Union where she worked for 18 years before she retired.

After retirement, Eugene and Betty moved to Long Lake in Centuria, Wis., where they enjoyed their cabin, boating, fishing, and entertaining friends and family. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake, Wis. Betty and Eugene spent their winters in Brownsville, Texas for 17 years. They enjoyed being “Winter Texans” and made many friends there.

Betty is survived by her children, Susie (Dan) Goodier, Hudson, Wis., Jim (Cindy) Gregor, River Falls, Wis., Lori (John) Suzukida, Shoreview, Minn., and Dan (Jenelle) Gregor, River Falls, Wis.; grandchildren, Joe (Sarah) Hansen, Jenna (Ben) Smith, Alicia (Jessy) Rivard, Jill (Patrick) Suzukida-Manning, Greg (Nicole) Suzukida, Matt (Lauren) Suzukida, Joe Gregor, Samantha Gregor, and Elsa (Clinton) Steinmetz; great-grandchildren, Laura, Max, and Evy Hansen, Grace Smith, Madelyn and Landon Rivard, Clare, Emma, and Will Manning, Kayo and Jackson Suzukida, Jett Suzukida; sister, Diane Beckon; and many other loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Idella, her husband Eugene, brother, Frank Arneson, and sister, Sue Peskar.

A Memorial Mass for Betty will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Please join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church dining hall following the service.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10 a.m.
