Beverly Pauline Vinge, 86, of Bay City, Wis., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at United Hospital in St. Paul.
She was born May 18, 1938, in Plum City, Wis. to Paul and Mildred (Wahlund) Hoffman. She attended Maiden Rock School and graduated in 1956. She graduated from Buffalo County Teachers College in Alma, Wis. in 1958. On July 19, 1958, she married James Vinge at Stockholm Moravian Church.
Beverly taught for five years at Hager City and for two years at Prairie View School. After raising her children, she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1976. She then taught for 24 years in Ellsworth Community Schools in the Title 1 program.
She worked hard as a teacher, mother and homemaker. She loved watching the birds on the farm where she resided for 56 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James; daughter, Jill (Mike) Tharalson; grandchildren, Steven and Erika Tharalson; sisters, Kathleen (Lee) Bjurquist and Karen Brostrom. She is preceded in death by her son, Keith Vinge; sister, Evelyn Coburn; and her parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Ellsworth Chapel with Rev. Alex Aakre officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial at Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing will be at a later date.
