Char Magee – Board President
How did you get connected to the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center?
A prior Executive Director,
Margaret Smith, reached out to me.
What part of the mission gets you most excited?
Our mission is: To inspire community generosity to safeguard this extraordinarily scenic site at the confluence of two great rivers and teach generations about natural and human history. I enjoy getting people involved and working for a common goal.
What makes this organization special?
The park is what draws us all together. I have met some really special community members that really care about having this jewel in our town. I feel blessed just sitting in the amphitheater area watching the sun set. If you have not experienced this I would highly recommend!
How long have you been involved with the Friends of Freedom Park?
I started on the Friends of Freedom Park Board in 2014.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time (hobbies, etc)?
I enjoy spending time on my pontoon. Love the water. I like to fish and spend time with my husband, John. Looking forward to more travel.
