domination with 11 first half points. In the second half, Coach Rob Radloff looked to use his bench more to rest his starters for an upcoming regional final. The bench mixed in with starters would respond as Prescott coasted to a 57-33 win.
Dalman led the way for the Cardinals with 20 points and 10 rebounds, yet another double- double for the senior. Freshman Lila Posthuma played a nice all-around game, scoring 11 points with seven rebounds and 4 steals. Bella Lenz added seven points and five rebounds, while Brynley Goerhing, Tori Benck, and Rhianna Stutz each scored four points. Rylie Radloff had three points, while Sydney Matzek and Katrina Budworth scored two points apiece.
The Cardinals had no time to rest as less than 24 hours later they were off to Lacrosse for the WIAA Regional final against Aquinas, who coasted to an easy 74-28 win at home over Arcadia the night before. Playing two games 21 hours apart with one team needing to travel a few hours to play, gives the home team a huge advantage.
“It seems like a huge advantage to me. You play the regular season to get the better seeds for tournaments to get that advantage. Traveling all the way there did not help and playing Aquinas was a rough and physical game. We were tired at the end, but the girls gave everything they had. T couldn’t be prouder,” Said Coach Radloff.
Despite everything seemingly against them, Prescott battled the #1 team in the state the entire first half. Aquinas quickly found out that the Cardinals were for real and needed everything they could muster to lead 47-43 at the break. In the second half, the Cardinals offense struggled and down the stretch Aquinas was able to wear Prescott down to win, 77-62.
In her final game, star senior Lenz led Prescott with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Fellow senior Benck had 15 points and five assists. Not to be outdone, senior Dalman added 14 points and nine rebounds. Senior Sydney Matzek added seven points, while Goerhing scored six points and Boatman added four points. Posthuma did not score but contributed with five rebounds and six assists.
“The hardest time of the year… heads up and be proud of their accomplishments,” Coach Radloff on what his final message was to his team.
“Bella, Nicole. Tori, and Sydney are great girls with a bright future. Our community is so proud of them. Their hard work has put our girls’ basketball program on the right path. We have plenty of younger players that want to be just like them,” Coach Radloff on his exceptional senior class. Coach Radloff also announced that Lenz was named the Middle Border Conference Player of the Year. Dalman and Lenz were also named First Team All-Conference. Benck was named Honorable Mention.
“We are already working towards next year!” was coach Radloff’s message to the Cardinal faithful.
