Cardinals improve to 2-1 in conference play

Ben Rohl singled, doubled, and tripled and Kyle Holman drove in five runs as the Prescott Cardinals defeated Amery at home on Friday, May 7 by a score of 14-1._Rohl was also the winning pitcher giving up three hits in six innings of work._The Cardinals collected 12 hits against three Warrior pitchers while improving to 2-1 in Middle Border Conference play.

Prescott got on the board in the top of the first on a run scoring double by Austin Fox. Amery tied it with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning._ The Cardinals took the lead for good in the top of the fourth when Rohl, who had doubled to lead off the inning, scored on a single up the middle by Holman.

Leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Prescott scored three times with two outs with the big blow coming off the bat of Holman whose two out, bases loaded double to right center cleared the bases giving the Cardinals a 5-1 lead.

Prescott added five more runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-1 lead._A screaming two-run double by Hayden Pattridge and an RBI single by Rohl ended the day for Amery pitcher Alex Kurchinski.

Rohl cruised through the middle innings pitching scoreless fourth, fifth, and sixth innings._Prescott scored four more times in the top of the seventh and reliever Fox sent the Warriors down in order in the bottom of the seventh.__ River Falls humbles Cardinals

Four River Falls pitchers tossed a one-hitter_as the Wildcats defeated the Prescott Cardinals by a score of 9-0 on Saturday, May 8._River Falls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second and never trailed as they defeated their Highway 29 rivals.

Phil Seifert, Matt Holman, and Dalton Hegeman surrendered 12 hits, walked two and struck out three in the loss. Mason Bartsch had the only hit for the Cardinals with a one out single in the top of the first.__ Prescott will host St. Croix Central Friday, May 14 at 5 p.m. and St. Croix Falls in a Saturday doubleheader with game one first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
