Staff report
The Prescott softball team had a major victory Monday night against the Arcadia Raiders, as they advance to the WIAA Division 3 Sectional Championship game.
Cardinals Head Coach Nick Johnson spoke on the team’s victory after the game.
“I’m so proud of our girls,” Johnson said. “You know what, we came in today a lot more confident than originally which we've been saying all year. We should be a confident group. We have such a nice team from our pitchers or hitters to a fielder assault. Especially every time they kind of came out and scored a run against us, and we came back and had an answer for it.”
The Cardinals are set to play against Northwestern in the Sectional Championship Game in Arcadia at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 23. Northwestern beat Bloomer 5-1 to advance to their matchup against Prescott.
“We've got plenty of stuff on Northwestern and we'll be prepared as long as we can be and obviously at this point, everyone's really, really good. So, we know it's not going to be easy, and we got to keep playing confidence by playing well,” said Johnson on the Cardinals preparation against Northwestern.
The Cardinals 14-5 victory against Arcadia was their highest scoring game since their 162 victory over Amery on June 7.
Before playing Arcadia, the team defeated Greenwood/Loyal at home last Wednesday in the regional finals 5-1 to advance to sectionals.
