The Prescott girls softball team came up just short in its quest for a share of the Middle Border Conference, but they got right back on the winning track Monday in their WIAA Regional opener.
Prescott fell, 2-0, in sweltering heat at Baldwin-Woodville last Wednesday. The two losses to B-W were the Cardinals’ only in Middle Border play, as they finished with a 12-2 mark, in second place.
Prescott jumped right into WIAA Regionals, dispatching its first foe, Osseo-Fairchild, 9-1, at home.
Prescott was scheduled to host Greenwood/Loyal Wednesday evening. The winner of that game is the WIAA Regional champ and advances to Sectional play Monday at a site to be determined. The Sectional champion will be crowned June 23 following a 4 p.m. game in Arcadia.
Against Baldwin, a fourth-inning home run was the only scoring of the game. Prescott mustered just two hits on the day, one from Isabella Lenz and one from Ariana Temmers.
Taylor Graf pitched well, allowing just three hits and striking out three while walking none.
