The Prescott softball team stormed back with seven runs in the seventh inning to shock Ellsworth, 9-3, on the Panthers’ home field Thursday.

Ellsworth scored runs in the third and fourth inning, with the Cardinals added one in the sixth. Ellsworth held a slim 2-1 lead going into the final inning, but the Cardinal offense exploded. The Panthers mustered a final run in their half of the seventh.

Prescott finished with nine hits in the game.

Sydney Matzek, Maddie Miller and Liz Rohl each knocked in two runs for the Cardinals. Rohl and Ariana Temmers led the Cardinal offense with two hits each.

Taylor Graf picked up the win on the mound for Prescott, notching four strikeouts. Matzek started the game and struck out two in four innings of work.

“We are showing signs of a complete team. We still have a lot of things to work on but we continue to_get better with each practice and game. We're definitely_gaining_momentum at the right time heading into the second half,” said Prescott Coach Nick Johnson. “We have some tough games coming up and we know on any given day anyone can beat anyone. The second half of the conference season will be much tougher than the first now that teams are getting more familiar with each other._“ Prescott is now 11-2 overall on the season after picking up an 8-1 win at Bloomer Saturday. The Cardinals have just one Middle Border Conference loss to league-leading Baldwin-Woodville.

They host Somerset Thursday and New Richmond Monday.
