RED WING, Minn. –  Actor and animal lover Patrick John Flueger recently visited River Bluff Humane Society (RBHS) to help raise awareness about their mission to help homeless animals find their forever homes.

A Red Wing, Minn., native, Flueger posed for photos with several adoptable dogs and cats. Joining him in the photo shoot was his girlfriend Reem Amara, who is a model and actress. A link to the meaningful visit is posted here via Instagram.

Flueger stars in the NBC hit TV show “Chicago P.D.” as officer Adam Ruzek. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 2002.

“Red Wing has given me so much, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness about the incredible work River Bluff Humane Society does to help homeless animals in our community find new homes,” Flueger said. “Animals have always been an important part of my life. If you are planning to get a new pet, please consider adoption and make a donation to your local shelter.”

Flueger’s and Amara’s visit to RBHS comes as the nonprofit shelter is seeing a surge in homeless cats and dogs needing help. The shelter took in a record-breaking 430 animals in 2025. While shelters across the nation are also seeing a spike in homeless animals, it can be especially challenging for shelters in small towns and rural areas.

An increased visibility in the shelter has the possibility to bring more donations in to help more animals, additional followers to their social media pages to help share their stories and hopefully help them reach more families looking for their next best friend.

To view RBHS’s adoptable animals and fill out an online application, visit rbhspets.org or drop by during an open house, every Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and the second Saturday of every month from noon to 4 p.m. Donations to River Bluff Humane Society can be made at 1213 Brick Avenue Red Wing, or via the following websites:
