A Wisconsin Department of Transportation pavement replacement project from Prescott to River Falls in Pierce County will result in a two-month closure of State Highway 29 from US Highway 10 to County Road F. That closure is anticipated to start Monday, Aug. 9.
Highway 29 from County Road F to Cemetery Road, closed since work began May 10, will remain closed. All traffic is being detoured via US Highway 10 and State Highway 65.
To extend the life of Highway 29 and improve safety, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Titans, becoming the first Cardinal athlete to play in the National Football League._ Prior to the Saturday banquet, inductees and/or their representatives will be introduced during halftime of the varsity football homecoming game between Prescott and La Crosse Aquinas. Previous Hall of Fame inductees include Dorothy Ahlgren, Mary Beeler, Mike Ptacek, Nick Johnson, Bernie Lepley, Kay Harris, Howard “Doc” Laney, Dallas Eggers, Dick Hoffman, Nicole Eggers, and Brady Behrendt._ Submitted by Prescott Hall of Fame Committee project includes:
•From US Highway10 to the County Road QQ south junction:
•Removing and replacing existing pavement.
-Removing and replacing culvert pipes at multiple locations.
-Removing and replacing existing guardrail.
•From County Road QQ south junction to Cemetery Road in the city of River Falls -Removing and replacing existing pavement.
-Replacing culverts, guardrail and 3-foot paved shoulders with 5-foot paved shoulders.
-Installing centerline and edge line rumble strips.
•Installing guardrail and advanced warning signs at spot locations.
•Rehabilitating the bridge over Greenwood Valley Creek.
•Modifying three intersections:
•County E: Changing the bypass lane to a dedicated leftturn lane.
•County FF: Rebuilding the intersection to add left-turn lanes for east- and westbound Highway_29 traffic and a rightturn lane for westbound Highway 29 traffic; reconfiguring the channelizing island for right turns from southbound County Road FF.
•Cemetery Road: Widening the southeast radius for truck movement.
During the work in the segment from US Highway 10 to County Road F, access will be maintained for properties as it has been on the other stretch of the project, but temporary driveway closures will be necessary during parts of the construction process. WisDOT will contact homeowners and businesses in advance before temporarily closing any driveway.
Construction is scheduled for completion in October. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
