With Elmwood/Plum City boys basketball lacing up the shoes for the season opener Dec. 2 against Clear Lake, Head Coach Paul McDonough shared his thoughts on what fans can expect to see on the court in the coming months.

What do you expect to be the team identity?

“Our identity is We Not Me. We’re about selflessness, shared accountability and relentless energy. Every player knows their role, trusts their teammates and puts the team first. When you watch us, you’ll see a connected group that plays for each other, not themselves.”

What will it take for the team to have a successful season?

If we stay true to the We Not Me, our commitment will define our success this season.”

Who do you expect to be the team leaders on and/off the court?

Logan Auth and Landen McDonough.

Who are your returning starters/contributors?

Starters: Brewer Link, Logan Auth and Landen McDonough

Contributors: Hudson Hewitt, Braeden Bechel, Skylar Fischer, Ariel Perez, Mason Hocking, Kale Rud, Teigen Bauer, Caleb Kopp and David Kopp.

Goals for the team this season?

“Our goals are clear and measurable. First, we want to finish the season at .500 or better – That’s the baseline for success. Defensively, we’re committed to holding opponents to 50 points or fewer, because defense sets the tone for everything we do. Offensively, we’re focused on improving our shooting percentages and minimizing turnovers. If we stay disciplined in these areas and keep living our identity of We Not Me, we’ll put ourselves in position for a successful season.”
