11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ono United Methodist Church (corner of County Road CC and Highway 10). The ladies are back in the kitchen! Serving roast beef and mashed potatoes, salads and pies. Come for good food and fellowship. Plate is $12 per person.

Thursday, Aug. 11 Morning Book Club, 10:30 a.m., Ellsworth Public Library (312 W. Main St.) Let’s gather together to share our love of books, conversation and community. Books are available for checkout at the library. This month’s selection is “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah.

Music in the Park, 7 p.m., Veterans Park, downtown River Falls. Community Arts Base presents Patchouli, downbeat- nominated jazz fusion and progressive rock.: Meet Author Jerry Apps,

6:30 p.m., on the River Falls Public Library Facebook page or YouTube channel (virtual only). In “Meet Me on the Midway,” Apps draws on extensive research, interviews and personal experience as at 4-H leaders, county extension agent, fair judge and lifelong fairgoer to take readers back through 178 years of Wisconsin fair history.

Thursday, Aug. 11-Sunday, Aug. 14 Pierce County Fair, Ellsworth. Four days of 4-H and Open Class exhibits, fair food, tractor pull, truck pull, demo derby, carnival, live music, talent show, memorable contests and more.

Wednesday, Aug. 17 Late Summer Bach, River Falls Public Library (140 Union St.). Reception open to all from 6:30-7 p.m., show is 7-7:45 p.m. Alex Chambers- Ozasky will play Bach’s Cello Suite No. 5 and other selections. Come early for coffee, tea and cookies at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 18 RFMU Customer Appreciation Event, 4-6 p.m., River Falls City Hall (222 Lewis St.) Enjoy brats, hot dogs, veggie dogs, corn on the cob, watermelon and ice cream treats. Take photos in a giant, life-size Instagram frame. Let the little ones jump around in the bounce house. Play a few rounds of bean bag toss and enjoy live music from the Tommy Bentz Band. Walk or bike to the event and get a free LED lightbulb at the welcome table. All RFMU customers may enter to win one of five $20 gift cards to the River Falls Farmers Market.

Rock Elm Ice Cream Social, 4 p.m., Rock Elm United Methodist Church (N5591 170th St., Elmwood). Drive-thru or takeout only. Celebrating 127 years! Homemade pie and ice cream, bring a cooler!
