Thursday, Aug. 4 Poolside Story Time, 2:30 p.m., Klaas-Jonas Community Pool (312 Panther Drive, Ellsworth). Join Ms. Caroline from the Ellsworth Public Library for a story time during afternoon swim breaks. Subject to change based on weather or pool-related schedule changes.
Summer Park Program,
3-4 p.m., Prescott Lions Public Square Park (across from Prescott Middle School). For ages 9-14. Each week a local organization will host an activity (or more) for kids. Connect with friends and have fun. The program is free thanks to weekly sponsors. Check the Facebook event page (Prescott Summer Park Program) for information on each week’s activities and if there are any cancellations.
Music in the Park, 7 p.m., Veterans Park, downtown River Falls. Community Arts Base presents Rock’nTours. Denny Cooper leads the band in oldtime rock and roll classics with gems from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Friday, Aug. 5 Story Time at East End Park, 10 a.m. Join Ellsworth Public Library’s Ms. Caroline for a story and activities every Friday at East End Park. Inclement weather location is the library lower level (312 W. Main St.)
Throwback Thursday Outdoor Movie Night, 9 p.m., Spring Valley Public Library (E121 Second St.) Showing “Matilda.”
Teen Library Lock-In, 7-10 p.m., River Falls Public Library (140 Union St.) For grades 6-12, gather for games, a movie, crafts, treats, and socializing. We’ll be showing the movie “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.” The reading challenge prize drawing will be at the lock-in.
Sunday, Aug. 7 PCHA Open House, 12-4 p.m., River Bluffs History Center (W6321 E. Main St., Bay City). Check out the historical displays, perform research and visit the Conlin log cabin.
Annual Ice Cream Social,
206 p.m., Historic Kinnickinnic Church (1276 County Road J, River Falls). Ice cream, homemade pie and root beer floats, and other beverages. Live music will entertain you as you socialize with neighbors and new friends. Proceeds will support the 150-year-old-plus church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Check out Kinnickinnic Historical Association on Facebook for more information.
Tuesday, Aug. 9 Doodle Club, 4 p.m., East End Park. Held every second Tuesday of the month, Ellsworth Public Library’s Doodle Club is a special hour of creativity. Learn drawing techniques, experiment with animation and comics, talk about books, do some creative writing and enjoy a snack. As a group, we will pick other creative topics to explore. For ages 9-12.
Wednesday, Aug. 10 Ono Methodist Noon Meal,
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ono United Methodist Church (corner of County Road CC and Highway 10). The ladies are back in the kitchen! Serving roast beef and mashed potatoes, salads and pies. Come for good food and fellowship. Plate is $12 per person.
Thursday, Aug. 11 Morning Book Club, 10:30 a.m., Ellsworth Public Library (312 W. Main St.) Let’s gather together to share our love of books, conversation and community. Books are available for checkout at the library. This month’s selection is “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah.
